At Momentum, when we say we are people-powered, we mean it. Having recently embraced a new visual identity that truly conveys the story of who we are as a company, we believe it is time to celebrate this new chapter by introducing our team beyond the professional bios available on our Team page.
Wells is a man of many hats. Not only is he one of the three Partners at Momentum, he also specializes in varying types of sales in the Real Estate industry. Whether it’s working with home buyers and sellers, or developers who are trying to put together land assemblies for future development opportunities, no challenge is too big or small for Wells. We sat down with him to chat about some of the lessons he’s learned from his 9+ years in the real estate business and discovered some fun facts we might not have known.
1. What is your favourite part of your job?
The people. Working with friends, family and colleagues is by far the best part of this job.
2. What memory have you created with the Momentum team that really stands out?
Can I say “the people” again? It’s a real blessing to work with the people that I do on a daily basis. From my Partners, to our Admin team, and to the Agents that call Momentum home, the conversations and laughs shared have created incredible memories.
3. Have you learned any lessons at work that you carry for your life outside the office?
Others first. Real Estate is tricky, time consuming, and ever changing. Having patience in how relationships and deals evolve, is key to success. There are many agents who impatiently push their way through deals and clients, eyes only on their back pocket. I’ve learned that by prioritizing others and partnering with them to reach their end goal is key to successfully completing a transaction. This might not be for everyone, but this mentality has helped me successfully close numerous transactions and build lasting relationships. Outside of the office, this mindset has translated nicely into fatherhood and helping my little ones grow and mature. This “others first”, aka family first, mentality is something I truly believe is key to building a strong family unit!
4. What always brings a smile to your face?
I love being able to bring happiness to others. Their happiness is my happiness.
5. What do you most value in our team members?
Their willingness to embrace Momentum as their own. It is so clear that we have built such a strong team of skilled individuals who invest their ideas, skills and hours into making Momentum a better place.
6. Can you share with us your favourite photo currently on your phone?
7. As a kid, what did you want to do when you were older?
I always wanted to be a Veterinarian or a Train Conductor. Classic!
8. What is your go-to method to decompress and reduce stress?
Playing with the little ones and spending time with my family is my favorite way to break away from the craziness of work. A good fishing hole is a nice instrument to decompress by, but those aren’t as frequently enjoyed these days!
9. What do you love about working with real estate?
The root of my love of real estate, development in particular, is understanding how someone can take the same piece of land from A to Z, and realize a profit. The science behind creating new homes for the tens of thousands of people that are looking for their next space, is truly captivating and something I really enjoy holding a small role in. It doesn’t hurt that working with People really energizes me, so that definitely is also a big ingredient in why I love being involved in real estate.
